A Playful Draenei

Another doodle I kicked out tonight while Scott's internet was out and I had nothing much to do.

It has.. issues. I spent a lot of time on her right shoulder/back side but just can't get it to look right. Maybe it's her back end being so.. robust? I figured I could adjust the front to fit correctly, but maybe I'll have to shrink the hind quarters a bit. Her butt is a bit big anyway.

I tried putting the elbow over the side. I did it several different ways, but it never came out right. I tried putting the shoulder more forward and adjusting the back curve.. I got it to look a little better but it still looked way off compared to the beginning.

I'll fiddle with it later as it's going on 2:30AM. Either that or it will remain a sketch like a lot of stuff. >>;

Let me hold your Lance...

So it's been a bit since I've updated. I have been drawing, I just haven't updated... wups. Some won't get posted since they're personal ones I drew for my boyfriend, but I'll toss up the other two sketches from this week.

First we have a blank faced Mithra Dragoon modeled after my own, hair wise that is.

I just couldn't get the face right. It kept coming out rather cheesy and just not my style. She is suppose to be holding a lance stuck into the ground, I just didn't get to drawing it.

---

Next up we have something I was working on for Scott for Valentine's Day. For those who don't know, we got pounded with two blizzards last week leaving us stranded home for a lot of the time. I wasn't able to get out in a timely manor to get him anything, not even a card, so I decided to draw something instead.

I was hoping to have it finished for Valentine's but the old monthly decided it was going to have none of that and put me in a grumpy-lay-in-bed-in-pain mood. Managed to atleast get the clothing layers done on the morning of, although the jacket still needs work. His pants and shoes came out rather well.

Although a personal drawing, it was one of decency I could share.

---

Other than that, some of the stuff I've been trying to work on is some commission work for Scott's room mate who is into making RPGs and the like. I'm failing... pretty bad. Hopefully I can pull it off.

Butterstache - Update (WIP + Color Concept)

To keep in the swing of things, figured I'd post an update of what I've done today.

The line art is coming along decently so far. I've always had trouble with the feet/toes which is why the front two are still not drawn. Really hoping the toes for them come out well, especially the formost one. The general shape, to me, turned out really nice. The back foot came out pretty good for a first try, but still needs some adjusting. Lots of tries and erases for the feet, so I moved on to other areas.

His thigh is a bit of a bother to me, I've been playing with it to try and figure out some better ways to go about it.

The longer I work on something, the more frustrated I become when I can't get things right. Normally that means I need to take a break before I start half-assing things. Either go afk for a while, play a game, or.. in this case, color what I have done!

It gives me an idea for color schemes and I'll notice things that need to be changed. Plus I just enjoy coloring. As for the coloring, trying something new and so far I'm liking it.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with how it's coming out. I just hope I can keep it up and not screw it up.

Butterstache

Well, about time I put this thing to use!

Here's a current work in progress. It started out as a late night sketch to keep me busy(awake) while waiting for Scott to get back. As soon as I started getting in to it, he returned. I knew it was coming. So I put the pen down and we said our goodnights and went to bed.

I just wanted to draw a dragon... but I didn't know what to do with him. So while laying in bed having a little trouble sleeping, I thought about the pose I had drawn him in. What could I do with it? Then a little flutter of an idea came, and I decided to plant a little butterfly on his nose with wing tips that curled up like a mustache on either end. The name "butterstache" came later.

So I returned to it today and filled it in a bit more to what you see above. Currently working on fixing up errors, adjusting things, and the final line art; But I thought "Hey.. maybe I should update that journal I made for this stuff months ago..."

So here it is! My first real post. Now to stick with this and get back to drawing more like I should have been doing these past few years.

Getting Things Going

It may be a bit till I actually start posting as I'm trying to get things how I like it first.

This was just an idea I had. I wanted to post things as I worked on them and not wait til I did finish them. I have a tendency to start sketches and never finish, so they never make it to be seen. Other than my friends, atleast.

So we'll see how things go. I've never been one to actually keep blogs/journals, but maybe it'll be different this time.
